This handsome young man is a senior at South Anchorage High School and needed some awesome senior photos. After bouncing some ideas around, we quickly decided that we would start his session where he spends a good amount of his time… on the tennis court at his high school. That worked out great for us, and we even got some cool action shots! We knew our next location had to be somewhere very “Alaskan”, yet not toooo cliché. With several ideas in mind and scouted out, we chose to make a game time decision on that, and I’m glad to say it was a really good one. Being at the end of the summer, everything was incredibly green, and the mountains were just stunning. We managed to capture lots of great Alaskan elements in his photos, but I’m relieved that a grizzly bear wasn’t one of them! We had a good time during his session, and (super weird) he actually thought I was funny. I’m not so sure about even saying that, because comedic relief is definitely not my forte..haha. We ultimately came to the mutual conclusion that it was just the awkwardness of being in front of the camera alone. Luckily that passed quickly, and if it never did, you certainly can’t tell from his photos. He looks like a natural, right!? I was SO EXCITED that his parents were surprised AND very impressed with some of the expressions I managed to capture. I don’t do many senior sessions, but I’m aware that it’s a huge success when everyone is pleased with the photos!! What you may not know is that for a good portion of the time I was in Texas, I also did the sales and marketing for a school photography company. I never wanted there to be any question about a conflict of interest, so I never pursued or accepted many senior sessions. Fortunately, everything worked out just as it should. I’m grateful for the opportunity to be kept on my toes photographing something a little different, and this dapper fella has some pretty cool Alaskan senior photos!
